Stronger for the Seams
Brain cancer is...
...inspired by the strength of our friends.
You recall that, one year ago today, our friends the Mayfields attended the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas, which ended with a shooting rampage that left 58 people dead and 851 people, including Lennie, physically injured. (Click here for the post, including words from Christine).
The Mayfields commemorated the day's one-year anniversary by remembering the lives of each of the 58 people who died that day.
When Christine shared these images with us this morning, she commented that her family created this piece because, "art helps us heal."
Mayfields, we are so inspired by how forthrightly you have pursued healing for an entire year. You have undertaken so many different ways to integrate this unthinkable event into your experiences, yourselves, and your world views in order to move forward. It is our privilege to have learned and grown from you and your indomitable strength. Thank you for every day of your hard work.
Speaking of the healing power of art, a few years ago, in considering loss, Andi created a journal spread that included this haiku poem:
May we all be just a bit stronger for the seams.
